Littlefield Family Sing-Along

This past weekend, Miles' Grammy and Aunt came into town for a visit.

We went to Rocheport, had some lunch at Abigail's (delicious!), and went shopping for a little bit. I am trying to bring brooches back in vogue, so I got a vintage one from my friend's shop.

More importantly, I was able to capture this little gem in the nursery during changing time. This video features the vocal talents of Grammy, Auntie Amanda, Andrew, and myself. Miles is clearly enthralled with our rendition of "American Pie."

Daycares are Cesspools (or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Snot Ball)

So, little Miles has caught his first stomach bug. It was inevitable, seeing as how he started daycare last week. He has been spitting up more than usual, increasing his "fuss-butt" time, and waking up in the night pretty congested.

Before I became a parent, I always thought the grossest part of parenting would be the snot ball duties. I imagined the inside of the snot ball being full of old, yellow and green snot. Only in the past few years did a dear friend explain to me that, in fact, you can clean out the snot ball after every use. Still I feel some trepidation about the force with which the snot ball enacted its duties. Regardless, if it helps Miles become less fussy and feel better overall, I am a believer.

Still a little grossed out....

Miles' Playdate and First Day of "School"

This past weekend, we were pretty busy socially. On Saturday, we had some friends from out of town over for dinner and to play Apples to Apples. Although, Miles was asleep soon after they arrived, he was sweet enough to cuddle for a little bit with our guests before heading off to bed.

On Sunday, we had a playdate with Nicolas Andres Verges. He is about 7 months old and just about learning to crawl (forward). Nicolas and Miles shared a lunch time snack together with their daddies and played together for a bit on Nicolas' playmat.

Alvaro and Pilar were nice enough to bring lunch for the adults as well as an additional dinner that we could reheat later on (of course, we have already eaten that one as well). Next week, I think we will have a playdate again with Nicolas on Tuesday in Peace Park. Should be fun!

On Sunday night, we had other friends over for dinner and Cranium (I see lots of board games in our future). Miles was a gentleman and sat on Mommy's lap during dinner - just hanging out and taking it all in. Then we gave him and bath and sent him off the bed again. I am thinking that he will be an extrovert given how social he seems to be.

In other news, Miles' first day of day care was yesterday. Mommy was a little anxious without her sweet little boy throughout the day, but she got a lot of work done on her first day back. He handled everything like a trooper. I was able to stop by his day care about 11:30a to breastfeed. Otherwise, he was given expressed breast milk in a bottle throughout the day. The only mix up was that the day care staff in the afternoon thought he had run out of milk and didn't realize that he had four extra ounces left in his cold pack. So, I arrived to a very hungry Miles at 5p and had to bottle fed him for a few minutes before taking him home. Otherwise, Lindsay said she hadn't even realized it was his first day because he "did so great!" That is always nice for a Mom to hear. :) Anyway, if he is anything like his parents he will enjoy school almost too much.

Yet another instance of family resemblence...

Daddy and Me

Last night after bath time, I was able to capture this precious moment between Miles and his Daddy. Miles just loves to listen to his Daddy sing to him! :)

Poopnanigans...

Alright, I know I just posted this morning but I was so impressed with Miles this afternoon, I had to post on the blog. I hope one day he reads it and becomes slightly embarrassed but mostly impressed with himself.

He had been grunting most of the morning and seemed a little consitpated. So, I was trying to feed him a little more often to help him work some of the stuff out of his system. We went into the nursery to change a small "poopie" and wet diaper. I was careful to put the peepee teepee over him to make sure he didn't pee into on him or me.

Right after I wiped his butt, he shot (and I do mean shot) a stream of poop clearly six feet across the room! Now if you know the setup of our nursery, you know that landing it in the middle of his crib (from the changing table) is quite literally six feet. At first, I screamed out a little because it took me by surprise. Then, I was just impressed. I mean really, such a small fry causing so much of a mess (clearly a wake of destruction was left behind). I looked down and he was just smiling away, like he had just won the academy award.

I was congratulating him on his phenomenal performance, and while I was distracted (and had neglected to keep the peepee teepee over him), he firehosed himself right in the eyes with a full on stream of pee. At this point, he got surprised and it was my turn to laugh. Quite an eventful couple of minutes and a full load of laundry, which reminds me, I should go back and check the carpet....

(Yes, I just became one of those parents that spends waaaayyy too much time taking about poopie and pee).

Miles' Beautiful Smile

Miles is 6 weeks old today! He is growing so fast. I would estimate he is about 9 1/2 lbs by now but can't be sure.

He is now moving his head back and forth during tummy time and loves touching the owls in his owl jungle with both his hands and his feet.

We have also been trying to establish a sleep schedule. We give him a bath (or wipe down) starting around 7pm, then we have "naked baby time" for bit, then we give him a massage with some lotion, and finally, we feed him one last time before putting him to bed. He usually sleeps from around 8p - 7a with feedings at 11-11:30p, 3-3:30a, and when he wakes up. This has been nice for us to get more sleep at night. Here is a cute pic of him napping during the day...

The best milestone, so far, has been his busting out his amazing smile. We have been taking tons of pictures in a attempt to capture it on camera. Here are a few choice stills.
