Belly Watch 2011 - 22 weeks

My Mom's Name Suggestions

For our consideration...the texts have been arriving intermittently. She noted that these are mostly inspired by her favorite saints.

Inside/Outside Marbles

A most exciting thing happened last night...Andrew was able to feel little Feetsy kick from the outside. The best way to describe it is to say that now it feels like someone is dropping a shooter marble from about 2 feet away (if my uterus were inside/out, of course).

Anyway, Feetsy was especially active last night between 11p-12a. The kicks were pretty consistent, so I had Andrew put his hand where I was feeling them and he said he could feel a tiny little bump. It is still pretty faint if I am not paying attention, but it seems like Feetsy's growth is really picking up!

Feetsy will probably live up to his name with his ninja-like kicks!

The doctor told us that Feetsy weighed about 12 ounces at the last check-up (20 weeks) and was about the size of a banana. I have definitely been feeling him move around in their more often the past week or so. Now, instead of flutters, they are more like little kicks (or punches). It is pretty cool to realize when it is happens, it usually makes me stop what I am doing so that I can be more mindful and possibly feel some more movement.

This weekend, Feetsy granddad is delivering some furniture that Feetsy's great-granddad has refinished. There is a cute dresser with a mirror and Feetsy-sized drawers. I, of course, will post pictures of the nursery once everything is set up. I would say that won't happen for another few months, but knowing the Littlefield women (me, Sister, and Grammy), I would suspect by mid-April. ;)

That is all for now...stay tuned.

Picture Pages

It was pretty hard to miss on the sonogram. So, it wasn't too much of a shocker at dinner when we opened up the envelope and saw that Feetzy was a little, wiggly, squiggly boy.

We opened the envelope at dinner, and our celebration consisted of delicious meal at Chris McDs. Then, we went home and ate some chocolate covered strawberries that Andrew had gotten. It was a lovely evening - just really special to think about what our little baby boy was going to be like.

Overall, we are just happy the baby is healthy (no malformations or disease markers!). The nurse said he was already being a little "obstinate" during our sonogram because his head was so low (next to my cervix) and he would always look away when she was trying to get some frontal facial pics. That's our little boy! She also kept remarking on how pointy his little nose is (I think he gets that from his father). I can't wait to see him for the first time in person! :)

In addition to divulging the sex, I wanted to give an update on the bump. It is coming along. Here are some pictures at 20 weeks...

Beginning to think of some names...

This weekend, Andrew's Grandmother gave us this baby name book from 1955, titled "Naming your baby." On our drive back to CoMo, we went thru the list of names (the smallest baby name book I have seen) and picked out a few of our favorites. Of course, suggestions are always welcome.

Boys (in no particular order): Calvin, Charles, Martin, Miles, Emerson, Maxwell

Girls (in no particular order): Penelope, Stella, Scarlett, Emery, Emma, Jean, Christine
Anyway, today is the big day we find out the sex of Feetsy (if ze cooperates). Then, we can really start to pin down our favorite name. I am quite excited. Our plan is to look at the sonogram monitor and try to figure it out ourselves. Then, the tech will have us avert our eyes when he/she is actually taking the picture of the secondary sex characteristics. We will take this picture in an envelope to dinner and open it after we each have made our own secret ballot guesses as to the sex. Finally, whoever gets it wrong will be the one to pay for dinner. Sounds kind of convoluted, but we always bet on things, and figured this would be a fun way to find out. Will post the outcome soon...

Heartburn City - Here I Come

I have been having a fair amount of heartburn recently. It wierd because sometimes it will be right afterwards and other times it will be like three hours after I eat. Tums seem to help a little bit. The worst is when I have heartburn and then take my fish oil too early and turn start burping up fish oil, Yum!

Continuing with the food oddities, I have not really been into meat for the past month or so. I can't really stand to cook it (which is why Andrew has been making 90% of dinners) and given the choice at restaurants, I am about 50/50 with the vegetarian fare. Not a big deal, just something I have noticed. Probably related to this is my fickleness with what I "feel" like with regard to meals. It reminds me of when I used to get my periods and would be voraciously hungry, but not for anything in particular. Most often, as of now, I am interested in Indian food. Oh man, I think I may have some of that for dinner tonight. :)
